Yodel-Le-Heeeee

Way back in the Spring, when Coen was just a gleam in our eye, we were so excited to get the Save the Date for the wedding celebration of Rob and Martina. Rob is one of Karl’s best buddies from University – and he has been with his Swiss girlfriend (now wife) for many many years. They were having ’round the world wedding parties (Victoria where they live, Ottawa where he is from, and the final stop – her hometown of Klosters, Switzerland).

The weekend was full with amazing wedding festivities, and one of the best parts was that Martina’s family runs a hotel business and we got to stay at their ‘Haus’ for the weekend. It was great to be so close to the festivities and spend some time at the dinner and breakfast table with the families, eating the local food (lots of cheese- yum!) and hearing the local swiss-german language. Plus, we were right in the middle of some of the most beautiful mountains in the world.

Coen did great on the short flight there and back – woo hoo. After flying in we bought our train tickets and easily made our way through the mountains to Klosters. We were close by to where we had been a few years back – skiing in Davos with the Burts, but it was great this time to take in the scenery post summer before the mountains are entirely covered with snow.

Pre-wedding celebration on Saturday, the local village nearby was having their annual Alpine Procession – how cool that we were there for this! We took a bus even higher into the mountains, and watched as the locals paraded their prized cattle down the mountain, ate some brats and enjoyed some German (or Swiss?!) beer.

Saturday evening we enjoyed the delicious food and celebrations for the couple – but got tired a little early due to life as parents and the high altitude.

Sunday we had a little time before the train ride back, but were able to make it up to the mountain and take the Gondola up & up to get a beautiful view of the alps.
